Hooked On Lakes: Seafood & Fishing Festival \ Marketing & Comms Management

Objective

With an expanded offering and event site, Hooked On Lakes required unique, targeted marketing to capture untapped audiences, gain local in-kind support, attract long weekend holiday makers and promote a varied line up of events & experiences.

Strategy

Working closely with the Victorian Fishing Authority’s (VFA) events team, and major event stakeholders (East Gippsland Shire Council, State Government and Tourism Boards), Neonormal developed digital assets and a strategic marketing campaign to push Hooked On Lakes to new heights.
Focusing on three key elements of the festival – Seafood, Fishing & Live Music, we employed a three pronged approach to push into local, regional and state-wide markets.
Local community and business support was increased, with assistance from a digital marketing toolkit and asset library created by Neonormal, with organisations and businesses showing their support for the festival by utilising the content of the tool kit to amplify promotional activity across their own marketing channels.

Results

Positive, active and continued promotion from event stakeholders, local businesses and organisations, local council, state government agencies and Melbourne media outlets, with support from Neonormal, led to a significant growth in attendance and VFA’s claim as the ‘the best one yet’.
