Gippsland Community Foundation \ Scholarship Showcase
Objective
Capture a record for the Gippsland Community Foundation (previously East Gippsland Community Foundation) of their student scholarship program that would also serve to inspire future applicants.
The mini-documentary style film sought to acknowledge the positive impact that financial assistance makes to students impacted by bushfires, outline the capacity building further education provides for Gippsland’s young people as well as their communities. The film also served to celebrate the incredible resilience of the region’s fire affected young people and showcase their unwavering career aspirations, by telling the stories of their final years of high school and transition into tertiary education throughout the recovery efforts.
Strategy
Neonormal briefed, interviewed and directed scholarship recipients to produce a sensitive, informative video showcase of the scholarship program’s impact on the young people’s tertiary education experiences.
Developing specific relevant interview questions, and using off camera interview techniques during filming, allowed for comfortable and concise responses from interviewees. Post production choices of music, b-roll and graphics resulted in the uplifting tone of the project.
Results
An educational yet, emotive asset to further promote the GCF’s scholarship program and their work assisting Gippsland youth to continue to recover and build resilience for the ongoing health of their communities and inevitable future challenges life brings.
